Roadways are partially snow covered Thursday morning, but it's the bitter cold that's causing even more havoc thanks to 25 mph wind gusts and the single-digit temperature.
Temperatures in Antelope County have dipped to 4 degrees, but the wind chill is even lower at -18, making conditions dangerous for travelers in the blowing snow. The wind chill is expected to inch up to -9 by 4 p.m. Thursday with a high temperature of 10 degrees possible. The Nebraska Department of Transportation is reporting partially covered highways across Northeast Nebraska, including Antelope County. Officials said expect blowing snow on the roadways. Antelope County will remain in a Winter Weather Advisory until noon. Several area schools have announced late starts this morning, including Orchard, Clearwater and Elkhorn Valley.
