Rosella died Monday, April 2, 2018, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Rosella Rae Allar of Brunswick, Nebraska was born on April 9, 1931, to Joseph and Lydia (Pflanz) Allar. She was baptized in the Catholic faith and grew up on a farm outside of Randolph until her graduation from Randolph High School. She attended Nebraska State Teachers’ College where she earned her teaching certificate and subsequently taught at a local country school. Rosella met John Meuret from Brunswick while skating at the Plainview Roller Rink. They married September 19, 1953, and began their life in Brunswick where John worked in the family business, J E Meuret Grain Co. They lived in South Carolina for a short time while John was in the army before returning to Nebraska where they would spend the next 64 years together.

They raised 10 children in a small town with most helping in the family business. Rosella spearheaded the establishment of the Brunswick Public Library and in later years regularly volunteered at the Siena/Francis House and Essential Pregnancy Services in Omaha. She was an active member of St Ignatius Catholic Church, teaching religion classes and serving as a Eucharistic minister. After joining the Omaha Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women (OACCW) she held several offices, finally serving as president before receiving that organization’s Mullen Award. This is the highest honor bestowed by that organization, awarded annually in recognition of work for the council, community and deanery as well as civil, educational and interfaith groups.

Rosella passed away peacefully in Omaha on April 2, 2018, surrounded by her husband and children.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marilyn Hochstein and Velma Gries; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Meuret.
She is survived by husband John; children, Pamela Fusselman (Doug), Patrick Meuret (Holly), Michael Meuret (Mary), Michelle McCrady (Kim), Jacque Haupt (Joe), Jeffrey Meuret (Linda), James Meuret (Laurie), Julie Maloley (Skip), Katherine Bessmer (Joel), and Kevin Meuret;  67 grandchildren; and 50 great grandchildren.

She will be remembered as a matriarch who lived the virtues of humility, patience and love, instilling in her family the importance of family prayer and living a Christ-like life.

Memorials are suggested to Bethlehem House/Humble Lily or Essential Pregnancy Services.
