Funeral Services For Richard Martindale Timm

​Richard Martindale Timm was called home by his Savior on April 23, 2019. He was 79 years old. Richard passed peacefully while resting, to join his beloved brothers and parents who had preceded him in glory. Known as Timm to his golf buddies, Rich to his family, and Dick to others of his generation, he was lately best known as Uncle Rich to those closest to him.

Born in 1939 in Oakdale, Nebraska, Richard moved to Los Angeles, California following the move of his parents John and Gladys Timm. Brothers John (and wife Lee Ann) and Stephen had previously moved to L.A. He served in the U.S. Army for a tour then he, his parents, and Stephen (and family) moved to the Antelope Valley in the mid-1960s. One other Timm brother, Harlan, moved permanently to Michigan. Richard lived in Lancaster working at Edwards Air Force Base (EAFB) until he retired. During that time, he was married for several years to Lenora Timm. Upon retiring, Rich became an avid golfer and USGA card holder. Self-taught, he enjoyed success winning several local tournaments and recording a hole-in-one at Muroc Lake Golf Course, EAFB.

Dick was a huge fan of PGA/LPGA, college football and NCAA men and women’s basketball. As a life-long Nebraska Corn Husker fan, he naturally followed the Big Ten Football Conference, but eventually became a great supporter of PAC 12’s USC and UCLA. He was known to be on the sidelines of Desert Christian Softball and LMU Women’s Soccer supporting his ‘Garcia great-nieces’ and rooting for his ‘Timm great-nephews’ on the Tehachapi High football and baseball teams. Uncle Rich is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews included in the families of Timm, Garcia, Johns, Andrews, Watson and Carter. He will be remembered as a ‘his way or the highway’ type of guy to his golf buddies but to his beloved nieces and nephews he will be cherished as a generous uncle who deeply valued his family and friends.

A graveside ceremony, with military honors, was held on May 22, 2019 at Oakdale Cemetery in Oakdale, Nebraska.
