Richard K. “Dick” Jennings, 77 of Petersburg, NE passed away Monday, November 13, 2017 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, NE.
Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the United Methodist Church, Elgin, Nebraska with Rev. Bruce Phillips officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Burwell, NE. Huffman-Levander Funeral Home of Elgin, NE is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.huffmanlevander.com Richard Keith Jennings, son of Herbert and Julia (Novak) Jennings was born June 5, 1940 at Arnold, NE. He graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1957 and later from a Diesel Mechanic School in Omaha, NE. Dick served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. On June 10, 1962, Dick was united in marriage to Bonnie June Worden at the Methodist Church in Burwell, NE. The couple lived in the Burwell area until 1970 when they moved to the Elgin and Petersburg area. Dick loved the ranching life and working with horses. He also enjoyed attending craft and antique shows, but his favorite pastime was attending his grandchildren’s activities. Dick recently became a great-grandpa and was very proud of that. He was a member of the American Legion Post #334 of Petersburg, NE. Dick is survived by his wife Bonnie of Petersburg, NE; three children: Teresa Hemenway and special friend Bill Pinegar of Omaha, NE; Todd (Theresa) Jennings of Cedar Bluffs, NE; Tanya (Chad) Shabram of Neligh, NE; seven grandchildren: Chad Hemenway and special friend Emily Russell, Sheena Hemenway, and Jenna Hemenway and special friend Tylor Drury, all of Creighton, NE; Micah Jennings of Osceola, NE; Ben (Brittany) Jennings of Lincoln, NE; Ashton and Grace Shabram of Neligh, NE; two great-grandchildren: Hadlee Hemenway of Creighton, NE and Barrett Jennings of Lincoln, NE; brother Jim Jennings of Elgin, NE; sister Beryl Hedrick of Armona, CA; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Julia Jennings, and his parents-in-law Lyle and Evelyn Worden. |
