Funeral Services For Joan Nelson

​Memorial Services for Joan Nelson, age 63, of Orchard, and formerly of Page, will be 11:00 am Monday, March 19, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Page, Nebraska.  Pastor A.G. Turner will officiate.  Inurnment will be at 1 pm on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska.  Memorial visitation will be from 5-7 pm Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service.  Joan passed away at her home on Monday, March 12, 2018.  Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill is in charge of arrangements. 
 
Joan Louise Matschullat was born on March 10, 1955 in O’Neill, Nebraska to Dale and Barbara (Harrison) Matschullat.  She graduated from O’Neill High School in 1973. She attended the Lincoln School of Commence for Court Reporting in Lincoln, NE.
 
Joan spent most of her life in North Platte, working as a dispatcher for the North Platte Police Department, then later for the State Patrol.  She married Steven Nelson on August 12, 1993 in Denver, Colorado. 
 
In 1995, the couple moved back to the Page, Nebraska area to help on the family farm. 
 
Joan enjoyed fast cars, especially her Corvette.  She was a huge animal lover and always had a special place in her heart for horses, dogs, and cats.  Being a grandmother was Joan’s favorite thing to do.  She loved to spend time with and take care of her grandkids.
 
Joan is survived by her husband, Steven Nelson of Orchard; two children, Kris Matschullat and wife, Keri, of Page, Dr. Erin Kindred and husband, Todd, of Papillion; five grandchildren, Sierra Matschullat, TJ Kindred, Autumn Kindred, Austin Matschullat, Shane Kindred; one brother, Doug Matschullat and his wife, Bert, of Page; one sister, Jan Gratz of Annapolis, Maryland; one nephew, Jake Gratz of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and two nieces, Tracy Kaczor and husband, Brian, of Ewing, Tricia Wiseman and husband, Jason, of Page.  
 
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; one sister-in-law, Sue Matschullat; and a cousin, Milton Hill.
