With five straight victories and a district championship, the Wolfpack earned a home game to start the playoffs -- against a familiar foe, Neligh-Oakdale. According to the NSAA official pairings released this morning, No. 8 Elgin Public/Pope John (5-3) will host No. 9 Neligh-Oakdale on Thursday, Oct. 30 in the first round of Class D1 playoffs. Kick off is set for 7 p.m. in Elgin. The Wolfpack defeated the Warriors just a week ago on their own field 36-20 to claim the district title. Both the Warriors and Wolfpack ended the season with 40.500 power points in the wild-card standings, but EPPJ gets the home game and the higher seed by having defeated the Warriors for the district title. The Wolfpack closed out the regular season on Friday night with a 34-14 win over Boyd County while Neligh-Oakdale's regular season ended Thursday with a win over Clearwater-Orchard.
