The Neligh-Oakdale basketball teams split in their first home games of the season against Creighton on Friday night. The boys team claimed a 58-47 win while the girls dropped a 58-21 decision.
In the boys game, the Warriors improved their record to 4-0, even without their starting point guard Tyson Belitz, who injured his ankle in practice this week.
"We had some kids step up tonight when we needed it," N-O Coach Frank Gade said. "Down a starter, against a ball pressure team, I was really proud of the way we played tonight. Grant White played a heck of a game but Zachary Chance stepping into the starting line up and playing like that was the key to us winning the game."
Sophomore Grant White led all scorers with 33 points, hitting key free throws in the final minutes to put the game out of reach for the Bulldogs. White also recorded four steals and five assists. Rounding out the scoring were Alex Kerkman with 10 points; Chance, 5; Chris Bentley, 4; and Ben Lingenfelter and Clayton Anderson, 3 each. Click here for complete game stats.
