Neligh residents have seen Wanek Pharmacy as a mainstay in downtown for nearly 100 years. However, for Danelle Charf and her husband, Stacy, it has been a mainstay in their lives for eight years, almost to the day.
The couple celebrated eight years of ownership of the Neligh business on April 20. They have found success following the same business model given to Charf when she was as intern herself under the previous owner.
Charf said customer service is something that Jim Wanek had impressed upon her since she started interning with him in the late ‘90s while she was earning her doctorate degree in pharmacy.
“Our top vision here is customer service. I feel people keep coming back to us here because we are kind here. We care and put them as a priority. If something isn’t right, we seek it out immediately. We try to provide the best savings we can offer them.”
Along with customer service, the local community has been a focus of Wanek Pharmacy since it opened in 1917. According to Assistant Economic Development Director Lauren Sheridan-Simonsen, Wanek Pharmacy is the longest-standing Chamber of Commerce member.
“I do feel that Neligh’s Chamber has done a great job of promoting our businesses, getting people involved and expanding things in town to promote growth and development,” Charf said.
Customers can look forward to a launch of a new system to make their Wanek Pharmacy experience even better.
“We are getting ready for a new pharmacy system to be installed. It will offer a few different things for the customers for modern conveniences like online refills and app refills,” Charf said. “It is exciting to have that come in play and have a more up-to-date system to make workflow more efficient and system checks that are important.”
Customer service has been a staple of Wanek Pharmacy for 100 years and with Charf at the helm, it will be for many more years to come.
