Thirteen Warriors Selected For Hawkfest Honor Choir, Band

Thirteen Neligh-Oakdale students were selected to participate in Hawkfest, a new music festival at Northeast Community College in Norfolk.

Soprano Sadie Heckert and tenors Isiac Kurpgeweit, Cade Wilkinson and Ethan Gregory were selected for the festival’s honor choir. Chosen for the honor band portion were Griffin Claussen and Jorden Fulsaas, flutes; Emma Bixler and Dani Beyer, clarinets; Parker Tinsley, alto sax; Meredith Wiseman, tenor sax; Trey Svatos and Adan Schindler, trumpets and Hailey Bixler, percussion.

Hawkfest will be held Monday, Oct. 22 and will feature more than 80 students from 17 area high schools.

The honor band will be under the direction of Kevin McLouth, director of instrumental studies at Northeast, while the honor choir will be led by Stewart Cramer, Northeast’s director of vocal activities.

They will rehearse throughout the day and give a public performance of their work at 5:30 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Center on Northeast’s Norfolk campus. The performance is free and open to the public.

Participating high schools include Battle Creek, Columbus Lakeview, Elkhorn Valley, Neligh-Oakdale, Norfolk, O’Neill, Osmond, Orchard, Pender, Pierce, Plainview, Randolph, St. Edward, Shelby-Rising City, Wakefield and Winside.
