Written by Neligh author Tammy Marshall, "The Clearwater House" is being published online with a new chapter added each week, providing a little suspense to what's becoming a favorite for local readers.

"It's been gaining ground each week," Marshall said. "I've received a lot of positive comments from local people who know about it and from friends in other countries and states. It's amazing to know people are reading it all over the world."

"The Clearwater House" is set in Clearwater, Nebraska, and about a young artist in Omaha who inherits a house in the country from a woman she's never heard of. Throughout the book, the woman finds out why she inherited the house and learns about her connection to the home. 

Marshall, who teaches Spanish at Neligh-Oakdale Public Schools, said the novel mixes romance and mystery for an intriguing tale that is capturing the attention of readers. 

Marshall started the book about 15 years ago and had the idea to publish the book in a similar fashion as Charles Dickens' "The Pickwick Papers." Having been a columnist for the Norfolk Daily News for several years, Marshall said she inquired with the newspaper about the possibility of a serial publication. 

In early June, the newspaper began publishing one chapter per week online. There are 50 chapters, and Marshall said she is planning a 52-week series, which means she may write an epilogue or split a chapter into two weeks.
