Neligh-Oakdale hosted Read Across America Night on Monday evening.
"Our 'WILD' about reading was a great success!" Kelly Ptacek said. "We had just over 250 people in attendance."
This year, there was a new addition -- students in 3rd through 6th grade put on skits for the audience.
"The students loved performing for the crowd and I think the crowd enjoyed it just the same," Ptacek said.
The third graders acted out the story of the three little pigs. The fourth grade class went back in time and rapped about Lewis and Clark, the fifth graders told us a camping story about Sasquatch, and the sixth graders performed Chicken Little.
"The reading committee would also like to thank the community businesses that helped us to celebrate by having tables at the event as well," she said. "Although we did not ask for donations this year, we still had a few businesses and families donate money toward new books for our students. A big Warrior shout out goes out to them for their generosity and the betterment of our students at Neligh-Oakdale."
