Pickup Catches Fire Near Antelope County Wildlife Area

A pickup caught fire Friday afternoon near the entrance of a wildlife management area west of Neligh.

Neligh Volunteer Firefighters were called to a fire on the Schindler farm, located beside the entrance of Red Wing Wildlife Management, which was destroyed in the March flood. Eddie Schindler said he owned the 1997 Ford pickup that caught fire around 2:20 p.m. He said a part was being removed from the truck with a grinder, which threw a spark onto the grass and ignited the fire.

There were no injuries reported. Also responding were Neligh Rescue, the Neligh Police Department, the Antelope County Sheriff's Department and the Nebraska State Patrol.
