It'll be a "Party In The Park" this Fourth of July as Neligh plans the 2016 Old Mill Days events.
Adam Mortensen, Neligh Young Men's Club president, said the organization has worked hard to include new events from the Party in the Park to several new activities planned by other organizations.
The Party in the Park and Beer Garden will be Sunday, July 3, from 9 p.m. until midnight at the Riverside Park Pavilion. This will replace the annual street dance.
"People are really excited about the Party in the Park," Mortensen said. "It's something new we're trying and should be a lot of fun, so come on down to the Pavilion Sunday night for a great time."
Other new events include the 5K Color Run on July 2, which benefits the new equipment for the Neligh-Oakdale track. Register here
A 3-D Shoot is set for Saturday-Monday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Archery Range.
The Neligh Chamber of Commerce is hosting a hole-in-one contest, sponsored by the Antelope County News and Pitzer Digital. Top prize is a pickup valued up to $50,000.
Qualifying rounds are from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, June 28-July 1 and from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, July 2. The top 10 qualifiers move on to the final at noon on Saturday, which will be broadcast live on the ACN.
The Fourth of July will feature most of the same events from past years. As always, July 4th begins with a breakfast/lunch at the Senior Center, a fishing contest at Fred Penn Park and the ice cream social in front of the courthouse.
The bath tub races will not be happening this year, but the stop light drags are back at the Antelope County Courthouse.
