NVC Teams Defeat MNAC In All-Star Basketball Games

Jon Doolittle of CWC wins the boys 3-point shooting contest

Katie Koenig of Ewing is named the MVP of the girls game
The Niobrara Valley Conference picked up two wins at the All-Star Basketball Games in O'Neill on Friday night. 

The NVC girls earned a 65-60 victory and the NVC boys rolled to a 91-74 win.

The NVC boys and girls competed against Mid-Nebraska Activities Conference players in the St. Mary's High School Gym.

Katie Koenig of Ewing was named MVP of the girls game and Trevor Halstead of South Loup was the boys MVP.

A 3-point shooting contest was held between the games. Kelsey Higgins of Sandhills-Thedford won the girls competition and Jon Doolittle of CWC was the winner for the boys.

Girls scores by quarter:
NVC     17  18  14  16  - 65
MNAC  17    9  11  23  - 60

Boys scores by quarter:
NVC     24  18  24  25 - 91
MNAC  20  15  20  19 - 74
The NVC girls roster included Courtni Kunz and Brittany Hanzlik (Stuart); Bridget Schneider and Addie Wetzel (St. Mary's); Lydia Fry and Katie Koenig (Ewing); Hallie Knutson (Neligh-Oakdale); Kelsie Waller (Clearwater-Orchard); Marissa Koenig (CWC); Courtney Rich (Elkhorn Valley); and Amber Bendig and Madison Rossmeier (Boyd County). They were coached by Traci Berg of St. Mary's and Dexter Goodner of Stuart.

The NVC boys team was coached by Shelly Mlnarik of Clearwater-Orchard and Travis Ludwig of Stuart. Players were Tyler Knox and Justin Palmer (North Central); Trenton Guenther, Jacob Johnson and Steven LaPointe (Niobrara/Verdigre); Mitchell Dvorak and Alex Kunz (Stuart); Trevor Mlnarik (Clearwater-Orchard); Kendall Albin and Jayson Larson (Elkhorn Valley); Josiah McAllister and Jeffrey Judge (West Holt); Brant Shoemaker (St. Mary's); and Jon Doolittle (CWC).
