A Neligh woman was arrested on suspicion of theft that allegedly occurred at a local bar over the weekend.
According to the Antelope County Sheriff's Department, Coleen Meis of Neligh was arrested on theft by unlawful taking late Sunday night at the Dew Drop Inn in Neligh.
Deputy John Shaver said the Sheriff's Department and Neligh Police Department responded to the Dew Drop Inn at 11:30 p.m. Sunday about a patron taking money from the cash registers. Shaver said $730 was taken from the registers, and statements from witnesses allege that Meis had taken the money and shoved it into her pockets.
Shaver said 10s and 20s were taken from both the regular cash register and the Keno register.
Shaver said Meis was in the bar when authorities arrived, and the money was sitting in front of her. After interviews, Meis was arrested and transported to the Antelope County Law Enforcement Center.
Theft by unlawful taking is a Class I misdemeanor. Meis is due in Antelope County Court on Aug. 2.
