A long-time Neligh resident recently celebrated her 101st birthday.
Inez Evans, who currently lives at The Willows Assisted Living Center in Neligh, celebrated her birthday with family and friends at The Willows on Sunday, April 27.
Family members (shown in the photo) Bob Clancy, Sr. of Plattsmouth, Bob Clancy, Jr. of LaVista, and Ron and Cris Cooney from Council Bluffs, Iowa presented Mrs. Evans with a friendship quilt made from quilt blocks signed by friends and bowling partners. The quilt was assembled and quilted by family friend, Marilyn Cahalane.
Inez (Earing) Evans was born in Elgin on April 27, 1913. She married Lewie Evans in the late 1940s. Less than two years after they were married, he died in an accident. Mrs. Evans said that Lewie was her "one true love" and she never remarried.
Mrs. Evans worked in photography for many years and was very active in her church, serving as church secretary. She was an avid bowler and competed in several state tournaments.
