Neligh Pee Wee, Jr. Pee Wee Teams In Action Last Week

The Neligh #1 Jr. Pee Wee and Neligh #2 Pee Wee baseball teams were on the diamonds last week.

Neligh #1 Jr. Pee Wee Team
The bats were on fire for the Neligh #1 Jr. Pee Wee team as they dominated Battle Creek 20-0 after just 4 innings. Play was stopped due to the "mercy rule." They are coached by Chris Ford and James Schrader.

"Two Neligh batters, Gavin Longsdorf and Isiah Adams, hit balls so hard and fast back their Coach Pitcher (Ford) that it caused him to fall on his back both times to avoid serious injury to the leg and ribs," Ford said were two highlights of the game.

He said the scoring began in the first inning with singles by Austin Good, Cameron Schindler and Isiah Adams. Those base hits were followed by a double from Jace Cameron, and Gavin Longsdorf "cleaned house" with the only home run of the game. This division allows a maximum of only 5 runs per inning, so it was Battle Creek's turn at the bat. Neligh's tough defense stopped them short with a three up, three down 1st inning.

The second inning was much of the same with Carson Whitesel starting the inning with a double. A triple by Ty Rix and 5 more singles by Austin Rudolf, Cameron Armitage, Caden Schwager, Alex Stewart, and Ben Ofe. The third inning was efficient for the Warriors as they hit 4 singles and two doubles with every batter for Neligh getting hits in the 3rd. In the fourth inning, Neligh was 8 of 9 with only 1 strikeout and another 5 run inning.

"The defense was stifling the entire game only allowing the Braves 2 hits for the 4 inning game," Ford said.

Singles: Ben Ofe 1 (2nd inning), Austin Good 2 (1st & 3rd), Ty Rix 1 (4th), Carter Voorhees 1 (1st), Carson Whitesel 1 (4th), Aiden Kuester 1 (3rd), Isiah Adams 2 (1st & 3rd), Jace Cameron 1 (3rd), Austin Rudolf 2 (2nd & 4th), Cameron Armitage 2 (2nd & 4th), Gavin Longsdorf 1 (4th), Landyn Schrader 1 (4th), Cameron Schindler 1 (3rd), Caden Schwager 2 (2nd & 4th), and Alex Stewart 2 (2nd & 4th); Doubles: Carson Whitesel 1 (2nd), Jace Cameron 1 (1st), Carter Voorhees 1 (3rd), and Cameron Schindler 1 (3rd); Triples: Ty Rix 1 (2nd); and Home runs: Gavin Longsdorf (1st).

Their next game will be at home against Pierce on June 1.

Neligh#2 Pee Wee Team
The Neligh #2 Pee Wee team traveled to Plainview last Wednesday night.

Neligh was held scoreless in the first inning, trailing by one. In the second, Haiden Sleister batted two in, with Thomas Johnson and Layne Bullock scoring runs. Plainview tallied three to regain the lead, 4-2. Carson Jones scored one in the third, but Plainview countered with one run of their own. Talon Krebs and Haiden Sleister were batted in on a single by Ashton Higgins to tie up the score, 5-5, heading into the bottom of the fourth. Plainview rolled to a 10-5 win as they scored 5 in the fourth and didn't allow Neligh to score in the fifth.

Talon Krebs, Jesse Green and Carson Jones pitched for the Neligh team. The team is coached by Brad Higgins, Steven Graham and Jason Krebs.

Their next game will be at home against Albion on June 1.
