Neligh-Oakdale will begin searching for a new superintendent this fall following action taken during Monday's special meeting.
The board of education hired the Nebraska Association of School Boards last spring for superintendent search services following the resignation of Kimberly Lingenfelter in December. Lingenfelter is now the superintendent at Cherokee Community Schools in Cherokee, Iowa.
In March after interviewing two candidates, Neligh-Oakdale entered into a contract with Bill Kuester to serve as the interim superintendent for a one-year salary of $122,000. His contract expires June 30, 2016.
On Monday after hearing a presentation from Shari Becker, Director of Education Leadership Search Service, the board took action to start the search process for the district's next superintendent. Krista Schindler made the motion, which was seconded by Brad Higgins. The motion was unanimously approved, 6-0.
