Neligh-Oakdale Second Graders Welcome Visitors From Japan

Neligh-Oakdale’s second grade class was excited to welcome special visitors from Japan earlier this month.  

Kao Tayaka and her mother Tomoe, who are from the Tokyo area, taught the second graders about the kimono, created some origami and wrote each of their names in Japanese.

Kao was an exchange student at Elgin Public School during the 2012-2013 school year. Her host parents were Kurt and Peggy Hanlin from Elgin. They have a granddaughter who is a second grader at Neligh-Oakdale.

The second grade teachers are BethAnn Suckstorf and Laura Larsen.
