Neligh-Oakdale Public School has a new look on the inside after a firewall installation issued by the fire marshal was put in place.
The estimated $20,000 project is ahead of schedule and should be done by the end of July through Don Zegers Construction. The big project for the summer was part of a fire marshal correction order to keep up-to-date with safety standards.
“It’s been a good summer for projects,” said Scott Gregory, superintendent.
The team looked at many different designs and decided that being simple was the best. Walls were added to the hallway on all three floors and fire-resistant grade doors were installed. The project was put in place to stop smoke from rising to a higher level floor if a fire started on a lower level.
Later on, handrails will wrap around the top and bottom of the wall, but that project is expected to be a little more expensive and won't be in place this year, said Gregory.
