Ten teams participated in the third annual Neligh-Oakdale Education Foundation Golf Tournament on Friday to help raise money for scholarships.
The 18-hole tournament has grown significantly since its inception thanks to the generosity of businesses, not only those in Neligh but also by those who serve the school district.
Nielsen Insurance sponsored the winning team of Colten Marsh, Greg Ptacek, Drew Schilling and Wayne Sager. Coming in second was the Gallagher family team.
In the second flight, Blackstrap sponsored the top two teams. The team of Alex Hughes, Nathan Hughes, Masha Hart and Greg Port won that division. Coming in runner-up, was the team of Ted Hughes, Rob Weber, Ron Gilg and Denny Maple.
The money donated for hole sponsorship was graciously matched thanks to an anonymous donor, who has provided matching funds for the last three years. Many other businesses donated flight or door prizes for the tournament.
A date has not been set for the 2017 Education Foundation Golf Tournament. The next event for the organization, which is made up of board members Rhonda Meyer, Jeff Doerr, Trish Smith, Dane Nelson, Carrie Pitzer, Angie Belitz and Bill Kuester, will be the Back to School BBQ in August.
