![]() Neligh's LB 840 program recently issued its first loan and work began on the project this week. You might remember the logo at the right from a couple of years ago. LB 840 re-allocated .25% sales tax to Economic Development in Neligh. After hiring an Economic Development Director and setting up the documents necessary to implement this program, the City of Neligh has issued its first Sales Tax Loan as allowed by the passage of LB 840 in Neligh. The City of Neligh’s Loan Review Committee met in February to review the loan application from Pitzer Digital, LLC. Upon review, the Loan Review Committee made a recommendation to the City Council to approve the application. During the February City Council Meeting, the City Council approved the loan, making it Neligh’s first City Sales Tax Loan through the LB 840 program. Pitzer Digital purchased the property at 110 East 4th Street in Neligh (the old Great Plains building next to Country Junction). Pitzer Digital, one of nine new businesses to open in Neligh in the last year, plans to remodel the downtown building into its office. Watch their progress on the City of Neligh’s Facebook page or on Pitzer Digital’s Facebook page. Great Plains Communication moved to a different location, and Pitzer Digital plans to be operating out of the building in July. Carrie Pitzer, president of Pitzer Digital, said, “We are excited to be moving into a storefront in downtown Neligh. We appreciate the support we’ve received from the community and jumped at the chance to purchase and remodel this building through a partnership with the City of Neligh.” Pitzer said the remodeling project is utilizing many local businesses on both interior and exterior aspects. Don Zegers Construction is currently busy installing a new roof, and Carhart Lumber Company provided much of the steel and matched the paint to give the exterior of the building a fresh look. Both Flenniken Electric and Flenniken Plumbing and Heating are assisting with the air conditioning and heating while 319 Graphics and Ts has the signs ready for installation as soon as the exterior is complete. SchinDigs Landcare will be assisting with plants outside of the building. Urbanec’s Furniture and Flooring is playing a key role in the interior of the building with carpet, tile and furniture, and Pitzer Digital plans to work with Green Gables of Pleasant Valley near Orchard on some of the interior decor. Pitzer Digital currently has one full-time and three part-time employees. The company builds and maintains desktop and mobile websites, as well as provides maintenance and SEO services. They also develop marketing plans and consult with area businesses, design logos, and provide printing services, including posters, newsletters, brochures, catalogs, calendars and more. The Antelope County News is a subsidiary of Pitzer Digital, LLC, and will be housed in the same building. There are still funds available to Neligh businesses looking to expand or those looking to start a business in Neligh.
