The economic development partnership between Neligh and Clearwater has been unanimously approved. The agreement is for one year and will roll over unless an organization seeks to end the partnership. With this agreement, a part-time position of Assistant Director for Economic Development will be created, according to Neligh ED Director Greg Ptacek said. The position will be a 30 hours each week position and will include city benefits, excluding health insurance. View job description/submit resume and cover letter The individual will be a City of Neligh employee and include duties for the Neligh Chamber of Commerce and Village of Clearwater. Ptacek said the agreement includes payment of $6,500 annually from the Neligh Chamber of Commerce and $10,000 from Clearwater to cover their portion of the duties. There will be a five percent annual increase. “I am incredibly excited about this,” Ptacek said. “It has been about 18 months in the making. . . . The position will help grow both Neligh and Clearwater and will really have everything from community development to economic development." Among the duties of the assistant director are meeting, planning and coordination, membership development, budgeting, billing and marketing. “This agreement is beneficial to both Neligh and Clearwater. Neligh is the regional center, it draws business from all throughout Antelope County, so as Clearwater grows, ultimately Neligh’s businesses grow and the business community gains strength," Ptacek said. He added that this partnership will assist the Village of Clearwater with housing and grants as well as growing their business community. Last week, the agreement was unanimously approved by both the Neligh City Council and the Neligh Chamber. On Monday, Clearwater Village Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve as well.
