Fifteen Neligh-Oakdale students experienced their first livestock judging event as part of the school’s rejuvenated ag education program.
The District X Livestock Evaluation Clinic in Bassett allowed students to gain hands on experience before the career evaluation clinic on November 15 in Ord.
According to instructor, Kali Bohling, students were asked to evaluate classes of market beef, breeding beef, market swine, breeding goats, breeding sheep and and cull/keep beef, as well as complete a knowledge test.
Students also took part in an oral reasons station on the fundamentals of how to structure and deliver oral reasons.
For Neligh-Oakdale students, this was their first experience evaluating livestock. Bohling said they look to continue to develop their livestock selection skills in the years to come.
