Meeting Set In Neligh About Proposed Irrigation Tax

A legislative bill which proposes to tax landowners for irrigation will be the center of discussion at a meeting in Neligh next week.

LB 1022, introduced by Sen. Paul Schumacher, would tax landowners one cent (.01) per every 10 gallons of water pumped from a covered well capable of producing at least 5,000 gallons of water per day.
 
A meeting will be held on Monday, January 29 at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Neligh to discuss the proposed bill.

Organizers have invited Sen. Schumacher to the meeting to explain the bill; however, there has not been a response from his office.
