A Neligh man recently published his first children's book. Jim McNally, Neligh City Attorney, practices law with his son at McNally Law Office. "This is my first book published but I will have a Christmas story coming out in July or August," McNally said. McNally said inspiration for this story sparked from an early Neligh experience. "When I was growing up in Bloomfield, my folks came to the 4th of July celebration in Neligh, which was a big event in those days, and one of the carnival people was actually giving away baby ducks as a prize," McNally said. "Didn’t win one but always remembered that." Of Ducks, Dogs and Children is a story of three small children who want their father to get them a dog. After deciding to momentarily stop to their persistent requests, he offers to take them to the county fair. Three orphan ducks, a vicious dog fight, a snowstorm, and new companion later, this family of five finds their forever dog. "I just thought it would be a fun story for kids to read. I always enjoyed reading to my children, so I thought other kids in the country may enjoy reading about this also," McNally said. Of Ducks, Dogs and Children is available for purchase at the McNally Law Office in Neligh and on Amazon. Families can also check out the book at local libraries in the area. |
