McNally Publishes Book In Light Of Holidays

Aside from practicing law, a Neligh man has found another passion in writing books.

Jim McNally, Neligh City Attorney, recently published his second book in honor of the upcoming Christmas season. “The Shepherds’ Story” written by McNally tells the story of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem.

Inspired by an article in the Reader’s Digest, McNally found that the story of Mary and Joseph had elements that many people were unable grasp entirely. In hopes to clear up that confusion, McNally used his writing talents to tell the story and use it as another learning tool for others. He explained that at the time of Christ, an inn had two different definitions which was the sole reason for much of this story’s confusion.

McNally began the rough draft of this book about 10 years ago and found himself finishing it and finally publishing it for the 2017 holiday season.

He explained, “I love to read books, and so it’s an inclination to try to write as well. Some people can’t write stories very well, but I seem to have a knack for writing stories. I started in high school, and I’ve just always been doing this.”
