Several Antelope County youth finished in the top three at Saturday's Major League Baseball® Pitch, Hit & Run™ sectional at Lincoln’s Optimist Youth Sports Complex and may advance further.
Aiden Kuester won the 9-10 boys division while Cole Belitz was second in 13-14 boys. Taylynn Charf was third in 9-10 girls, and Kate Furstenau was third in 7-8 girls.
The top all-around sectional performers (there are nine sections) are eligible to advance to the Kansas City Royals Team Championship, where winners may qualify to receive an all-expense-paid trip to the National Finals during All-Star week in Cincinnati. Qualifiers will receive a letter in the mail notifying them if they advance to Kansas City.
Others who qualified for Saturday's sectional in Lincoln were Juliana McNally (7-8), Hailey Horstmann (9-10); Ashlynne Charf (9-10), Claire Whitesel (11-12), Teagan Kennedy (11-12), Angelica Volquardsen (13-14), Adam Dexter (7-8), Myles Kittelson (9-10), Carter Voorhees (9-10), Talon Krebs (11-12), Brock Kester (11-12), Isaiah Adams (11-12), Jace Cameron (11-12) and Jayden Arehart (13-14).
The local competition was sponsored by Overland Rehab and Antelope Memorial Hospital.
