Local Chiropractor Offers Traditional Acupuncture

There is more to an acupuncture needle than what meets the eye.  
 
Dr. James Zielinski is now offering options for healthier living through acupuncture with Creekwood Chiropractic in Neligh
 
After completing a 100-credit hour training course with the University of Western States from September to December, Zielinski is now certified in traditional acupuncture.
 
While this is not required to practice in the state of Nebraska, Zielinski said he felt it was important to go through the training and become qualified to practice.
 
“Acupuncture is an ancillary service to enhance chiropractic care or treat issues that aren’t responsive to chiropractic care or within the scope of chiropractic,” Zielinski said. “It offers more options for patients that want to avoid some medical routes of drugs and surgery. It’s just another avenue.”
 
According to Zielinski, many people can get acupuncture to relieve pain symptoms and treat organic imbalances in energy and metabolism.
 
“It is good for things like hot flashes, pain, bed wetting, and mental or emotional issues that manifest in physical symptoms. These aren’t the place for prescriptions or surgery, but respond well to acupuncture,” Zielinski said.
 
Zielinski said traditional Chinese acupuncture is also used to help control addictions such as nicotine or alcohol. This is something that he is putting to practice through a National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) protocol – which entails placing tiny needles in the ears and wrists.
 
“The NADA protocol is used for breaking the body’s cycle of substance need in an addiction by rebalancing the chi – which is the traditional Chinese energy flow through the organs. It makes the body crave toxins less,” Zielinski explained.
 
While a fear of needles makes some people apprehensive about this option, Zielinski said that acupuncture is actually less invasive than other treatment techniques, such as surgery or prescription medication.
 
“You don’t feel the needles going in or coming out. As far as the patient is concerned, treatment consists of coming into the office and taking a nap for 20 minutes,” Zielinski said.
