Jesse Mitchell Honored With AMH Caring Kind Award

Antelope Memorial Hospital is honoring a local man with the Caring Kind Award for countless efforts taking care of patients.

Jesse Mitchell is the 2017 Caring Kind Award Winner of Antelope Memorial Hospital and was recognized for the award on Tuesday during National Hospital Week.

Each year, the Nebraska Hospital Association honors employees from hospitals across the state as “Caring Kind” employees. The honored employee must exemplify the spirit of someone who gives that “something special” to others.

Jesse was nominated and selected by his fellow AMH employees to win this prestigious award. His nominations reflected the many positive qualities he brings to work each day. He has been employed at AMH for 10 years in the AMH Maintenance Department.

Jesse’s nomination described him as being an eager worker and very self-motivated. Whenever he sees a task ‒ he gets it done. He is friendly, outgoing and a good ambassador for AMH. He also has expertise in the landscaping department and does many little “extras” that are quite extraordinary. For example, he transplanted four cherry trees from the hospital’s south entrance and moved them next to the highway. He also successfully moved the lilac “tree” at least three times due to construction projects – which is very difficult! Jesse is an outstanding representative of Antelope Memorial Hospital’s team of committed individuals working together to serve our communities.

“I feel very honored to win this special award,” said Jesse. “I enjoy the people I work with and the atmosphere found at AMH. I feel a special camaraderie with my co-workers ‒ they are like my second family. I truly enjoy my job and I’m happy to be a part of Antelope Memorial Hospital. It’s a great place to work.”

Jesse and his wife, Bonnie, reside near Oakdale and have been married for three years. Bonnie is employed at Clearwater Public Schools as a special education teacher. They have one son, Connor, who is 8-months-old. They are members of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Neligh.

Jesse’s parents are LaVern and Stacey Mitchell. LaVern is a welder / farm maintenance repairman. Stacey is a registered nurse and supervisor at AMH. Jesse’s siblings include two brothers, Josh Mitchell and Al Vraspir, and a sister, Tasha Mitchell. Josh and his wife, Sarah, have two daughters, Ariah (age 5) and Dacia (age 2). Al and his wife, Lisa, have a daughter, Hannah (age 12). Jesse’s hobbies include spending time with his family, fishing and hunting with Connor and landscaping.

On Friday, October 27th, the Nebraska Hospital Association will host an award presentation at the Embassy Suites Conference Center in LaVista honoring Jesse and other “Caring Kind Award” recipients in Nebraska.
