Homecoming Activities Kick Off At Neligh-Oakdale

From minute-to-win-it games to the traditional bonfire, Neligh-Oakdale kicked off its homecoming activities Sunday night.

Hosted by the Booster Club, students in grades 7-12 participated in games in the Riverside Park pavilion. Coaches Hannah Hoefer, Rick Eickholt and Ron Beacom demonstrated the games before students spent the next hour vying for top prizes. Those completing all five challenges and tabbed as overall winners for the games were Ashton Higgins, first, 178 seconds; Kaleb Pofahl, second, 205 seconds; and Claire Whitesel, third, 225 seconds.

Popcorn from Pinnacle Bank and snow cones courtesy of the Neligh Young Men's Club added to the carnival-themed night.

Classes also performed skits as the teams prepare for Friday's homecoming game against Ainsworth. The freshmen's skit mimicked a carnival football toss, the sophomore's was a dog show with a Lion King theme, the juniors turned "Talladega Nights" into a scooter race and seniors skit had an ESPN theme with a top three best and worst plays. The seniors were named spirit cup winners for best skit.

The evening ended with a bonfire in front of the grandstand with assistance from the Neligh Fire Department.
