After months of preparation, the Snodgrasses have now seen their hard work pay off.
Seth and Shelby Snodgrass competed at the NPC Missouri State Championship Saturday in Springfield, Mo. The couple has been training for months to impress the judges, focusing on their lifting mechanics, eating clean and working with coaches to perfect their posing form to show off their hard work. When the final results were announced, both Shelby and Seth knew their efforts had been worth it..
"I took third in novice and fifth in the open division," Seth said. "Shelby took first in open and then won the overall championship."
After finishing second in the novice division and third in the open division in her first competition, Shelby knew first place was an attainable goal for herself. Knowing it was possible, however, didn't make it any less exciting for her when it happened.
"She had no idea she was going to win until finals," Seth explained. "She's over the moon happy about it. She worked extremely hard for it!"
Seth also felt great about his finish, despite some last minute challenges.
"They changed some posing up on me at the last minute so I had maybe an hour to figure out posing and be comfortable with it," he explained. "I still felt like I brought a good physique to compete again. There were a lot of great physiques there."
With the competition now complete, the couple are now making plans for their next step in the bodybuilding world.
"She doesn't have anything set for her next show but will continue to work hard and make improvements on physique," Seth said of Shelby after her first place finish. "She plans on doing a national show in the future."
As for himself, Seth isn't taking any time to sit back and relax.
"I've already decided to get ready for another show in October," he said.
In the meantime, the Snodgrasses will return to Neligh and continue to train and keep their bodies in top condition as they look to make the next steps in their bodybuilding careers.
