Fans and businesses from across Antelope County are again coming together to raise money for local student athletes with the 2nd annual ACN Golf and Glow Ball Tournament on Friday, Aug. 11, at the Antelope Country Club.
After both hits and misses last year, the tournament looks a little different this year but promises to be not only a great time for golfers, but also a nice fundraiser for local student-athletes.
Last year nearly $2,000 was divided between the four programs at Clearwater-Orchard, Neligh-Oakdale, Elkhorn Valley and Elgin Public/Pope John. This year’s tournament is sponsored by TJ’s Market in Orchard, Thriftway Market in Tilden and Neligh, Blackburn Manufacturing, Wilbur Ellis, Stealth Broadband, Insurance Mart of Elgin and the Bank of Elgin.
Each four-person team will have an option of a nine-hole round from 5-9 p.m. ($125 fee per team), a nine-hole glow ball round beginning at 10 p.m. ($125 per team) or both rounds for $200. Cart rental is not included. There will be a cash payout to the top three teams for regular golf as well as glow golf.
The pre-dusk golf will include pin prizes while the glow golf will include lighted necklaces and five LED glow balls. Mulligans and miracle putts may be purchased as well. The glow golf will include LED balls that are turned on and off by smart phone flashlights.
The fee to participate does not include a meal, but there will be a free-will offering meal at 9 p.m. for all golfers, and hotdogs and brats will be available during the tournament as well.
Once again, the funds will be divided between programs for the Cyclones, Warriors, Wolfpack and Falcons.
Space is limited. Teams can sign up by calling the Antelope County News at 402-887-4000 or signing up at either Antelope County Club in Neligh or Summerland Golf Course in Ewing.
