Having outgrown the former location, Furstenau Financial Management is planning an open house and ribbon cutting to celebrate their new office, along with their 12th year in business.

Ryan Furstenau, an investment advisor representative through LPL Financial, has ran the Neligh-based business since 2003. The office formerly was located on 3rd Street but moved to 318 West 11th Street (along Hwy 275) in March of 2014.

“We’re overdue for our grand opening by one year, but we wanted everything to be perfect for our clients before we had our celebration because all we do is for their benefit,” Furstenau said.

The open house will be Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. with the Neligh Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. The public is welcome to stop by to see the new office and meet everyone at Furstenau Financial Management.

Furstenau, a 1993 graduate of Neligh-Oakdale, lives in rural Neligh with his wife, Shelly, and their four children - Paige, Chase, Kate and Reid. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and offers general securities, investments, mutual funds, annuities and life insurance at Furstenau Financial Management.

In the dozen years Furstenau has owned the management company, much has changed, including the size of the company.

“What’s exciting is we’ve grown to help three times as many clients and currently help manage about 4 1/2 times the assets we did 12 years ago,” he said. “Those are some big numbers, so we have a big responsibility to help those clients. What we do, we don’t take lightly."

After an extensive remodel of the new location, Furstenau and two full-time employees moved into the new location primarily for more office space.

"Before we had three people in the space of a reception area and one office,” he said. “Now we have the reception area plus four other offices, so we really have space for five people. If we want to expand in the future, we can. It also gave us the option of a conference room, where we have almost all of our client meetings.”

Furstenau utilizes technology in presenting his clients with their investment plan via iPads and a smart TV to provide a better client experience. The conference room allows confidentiality as they discuss private information.

“Our mission is to empower our clients to realize their dreams and goals, so we find out what is important to them and go through the financial planning process,” he said. “We find out what resources they have to accomplish those dreams and goals. We put those pieces together to see if we can get there.”

Furstenau said they use the tools available - investment and insurance resources - to implement the plan and to actively monitor its progress.

“It’s a living and breathing thing, so we meet once a year to review our plans,” he said. “We have a patient and disciplined process in which to go about executing that. We don’t make changes just for the sake of making changes, and I think our clients would say they’re comfortable and confident they’re heading in the right direction.”

Also at Furstenau Financial Management is Aimee Junck, who serves as marketing associate. Junck is a marketing and communications graduate from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Furstenau is in the hiring process for a new office manager.
