Law enforcement was called Tuesday afternoon after two Neligh-Oakdale fourth graders left school premises without permission, according to school officials.
Elementary principal Mary Schrader said the two girls were located at Riverside Park about an hour after they voluntarily left the school. Schrader said school officials were notified of the missing girls after lunch recess.
“The girls admitted that they planned during lunch to leave school today together,” Schrader said. “They left the school premises without permission.”
Officials then searched the school, looked at video and determined the girls had left the school.
“We did a school-wide search of the building and went through videotape to see not only if they had exited the building, but also what direction they were headed,” Schrader said. “We then notified law enforcement and started contacting their parents.”
Schrader said the girls were found within minutes of discovery that they had indeed left school premises. She said the girls are now back at Neligh-Oakdale.
