Five Neligh-Oakdale students have earned a trip to the national FCCLA contest. National qualifiers were announced Tuesday during the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference in Lincoln. Neligh-Oakdale FCCLA members heading to the national conference in San Antonio, Texas, July 6-10 are as follows: Kelsey Green and Taylor White in Chapter in Review Portfolio - Junior/Senior. They finished as top gold in their category. Kasi Grosserode and Nikki Grosserode in Chapter Service Display & Chapter Service Portfolio Junior. They were runner-up in their category. White, Green and Noelle Ervin were named state PEER education officers. White was selected financial fitness historian; Green as student body historian and state PEER secretary; and Ervin as families first public relations officer. Nine N-O students qualified for state and competed in the STAR contest on Monday. Gabriela Linnares received gold in Fashion Design/Fashion Construction - Senior; Tia Smith earned a silver in Recycle & Redesign - Junior; and Rachel Higgins, Calli Wilkinson, Bailey Frey received a gold in Nebraska Health & Wellness - Junior. The Neligh-Oakdale chapter also received several awards, including a Gold Chapter Award, third in community service and third in FACTS. Neligh-Oakdale has been a Gold Chapter more than 30 times, according to sponsor Cindy Hild. Ashley Keetle, a senior, served as student body secretary and former N-O student Viktor Jonseth, a junior at West Holt, was the state president. |
