Two Antelope County college students are spending the summer at one of the fastest-growing mediums in the state.
Dylan Widger of Elgin and Cadrien Livingston of Orchard, both students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, are interning with the Antelope County News. Their duties will include a combination of print, digital, video and audio assignments. “I’m really excited about taking what I learned in my first year of college and adapting it to real-world experiences,” Widger said. After spending last summer with the ACN staff, Widger continued to assist remotely on occasion. He covered the Hero Flight last week in Lincoln and also helped with coverage of several state sporting events. Readers may remember his photo of Neligh-Oakdale coach Frank Gade during the state tournament as he was caught in a near limbo position along the bench. As for Livingston, while this will be her first summer with the ACN, she also brings quite bit of experience. Readers will recognize her as having recently been named the first two-time Nebraska Press Association scholarship winner. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity and to use my passion for journalism,” Livingston said. Both interns are already contributing to content with the print and digital publications, having covered multiple assignments during their first two days on the job. “We’re excited to have both Dylan and Cadrien with us this summer,” said Publisher Carrie Pitzer. “This is a great learning experience for them, and we also enjoy seeing what different techniques are being taught at the J School. It’s win-win for the entire staff, and we can’t wait to see the great stories and ideas they come up with this summer.” Both Widger and Livingston can be reached by calling 402-887-4000 or emailing [email protected]. |
