Those wanting to help the Mike and LouAnn Blecher family following their house fire are asked to take their monetary donations to State Farm Insurance.
The Blechers, who live at 807 E. 3rd Street in Neligh, lost their house in a fire this morning. The home initially caught fire yesterday afternoon due to a malfunction with a wall mount electric heater, but Neligh volunteer firefighters were able to save the structure.
A hot spot flared up early this morning and was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. Fire Chief Mike Mortensen said the home is now considered a total loss.
Donations can be left at or mailed to State Farm Insurance, 417 Main Street, Neligh NE 68756. For more information, contact Melissa Smith at 402-649-4296.
According to family members, the Blechers plan to stay in Mike and Doris Ingall's home for the time being.
Due to a remodel project set to begin soon, much of the Blecher's household items were in either the garage or rooms near the garage and were destroyed by the fires.
