The annual Dog and Cat Clinic will be held at the Neligh City Hall Garage on Thursday, April 23 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Dr. Stacy Charf from the Antelope County Vet Clinic will offer rabies shots for dogs and cats.
"After dogs receive their rabies shot, they can come into the city office and license their dog all at the same time," City Clerk Dana Klabenes said. She said the cost of Neligh's dog licenses doubles in price after May 1. Here is more information on dog licensing requirements in Neligh:
NOTICE TO DOG OWNERS IN THE CITY OF NELIGH
In accordance with the Official City of Neligh Code Chapter II, Article 3, it shall be unlawful for any person within the City to own a dog over six (6) months of age without procuring a license for such dog.
Such license fee is due and payable to the City Clerk, 202 Main Street, Neligh, Nebraska, on January 1st of each year and shall expire on December 31 of the same year. Said license fees are ten dollars ($10.00); provided, however, the license fee for all spayed female dogs and neutered male dogs shall be the sum of five dollars ($5.00).
Presentation of a valid rabies vaccination certificate showing a current immunization for rabies following the latest recommendation of the U.S. Public Health Service is necessary when purchasing a license.
Licenses for all dogs within the City of Neligh are due and become delinquent May 1, 2015 and are currently available at the City Clerk’s Office. Per Ordinance 514 all delinquent tags after May 1 will be $10 for each neutered male and spayed female dog and a fee of $20.00 for each unneutered male and unsprayed female dog. Per State Statute LB 910 an additional $1 fee will be assessed on each license for financing the State Commercial Dog and Cat Operator Inspection Act.
City code also states that any person who suffers or permits his/her dog to run at large within the confines of the city shall be guilty of a Class V misdemeanor.
Anyone harboring more than three (3) dogs is required to obtain a kennel license. For more information, contact the Neligh City Office at 887-4066.
