Several runners broke course records at the Neligh-Oakdale Cross Country Invitational on Monday.

"Both of the winning times (high school boys and girls) were all-time course records for the Antelope Country Club," said Rick Eickholt, Neligh-Oakdale coach and meet organizer. "All of the races were very competitive at the varsity level with several returning state qualifiers, as well as state medalists."

Kasi Grosserode won the high school girls race and set a new course record with a time of 19:54; and Jayda Chance earned the 8th place medal with a time of 21:50. Brittany McConnell was 21st with a time of 25:41.

In the boys race, Osmond runner Cameron Moes captured first place and the course record with a time of 16:08. Neligh-Oakdale's Michael Peinke medaled with a 9th place finish in 18:22. Rounding out the boys team were Dallus Christiansen, 28th, 20:12; Connor Knievel, 35th, 21:03; Jakub Raspl, 37th, 21:36; and Jordan Chelle, 38th, 21:38.

Eickholt noted that the junior high race "was also very competitive with the top 3 times eclipsing the old junior high course record."

Haley Kerkman came in second place with a time of 9:10, which just 1 second off first place. Madi Grosserode earned the 8th place medal with a time of 9:35. Eric Claussen captured the 8th place medal for the boys with a time of 10:22.

Neligh-Oakdale's other junior high runners were: 13. Adysen Boggs,10:05; 14. Emma Bixler, 10:06; 16. Natasha Peinke, 10:38; 18. Hailey Bixler, 13:03; 20. Nadia Peinke,14:11; 21. Jordan Fulsaas, 14:40; 22. Hannah Brady, 15:47.

He said several Neligh-Oakdale runners ran their first race of the season on Monday.
