The addition of three new businesses in Neligh was not the only good news we’ve had in Neligh lately. The City of Neligh was awarded a $21,000 grant from the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority (NIFA). The City applied for NIFA’s Housing Study Grant in late November and recently received notice of the award.
The grant funds will be used to develop an all-encompassing plan to guide Neligh for the next ten years. Perhaps you’ve heard some mention of Envision Neligh, the online town hall site. The content from Envision Neligh, good ole’ fashioned town hall meetings, and mail surveys will be compiled into a planning document called a comprehensive plan. This planning document gives Neligh access to future grants, such as Downtown Revitalization grants. The grant funds will also be used to develop a short term strategic plan, capital improvement plan, community needs assessment, and perhaps most importantly a full housing study. The housing study will help the City of Neligh identify housing options for future development. The City is very excited to receive this grant, not only because NIFA is picking up a share of the planning costs but because NIFA is an awesome organization to partner with. NIFA has a lot of great programs and will be a strong partner for Neligh in the future. Great things are happening! By Greg Ptacek Director of Economic Development – City of Neligh |
