The Boone and Holt County News launched this week, joining sister websites Antelope and Knox as an avenue for free local news that promotes county unity.
Pitzer Digital, LLC - a Neligh-based website development and marketing agency - owns the media, which posts news and event stories online with no subscription required to read them. Readers can utilize links to the websites at the top of any of the sites or they can navigate from the main website www.MyLocalCountyNews.com. The address sites are: Antelope County News: www.MyAntelopeCountyNews.com Knox County News: www.MyKnoxCoNews.com Boone County News: www.MyBooneCoNews.com Holt County News: www.MyHoltCountyNews.com "This is a natural expansion that signifies how our company began, which was at the request of others," said Carrie Pitzer, who owns the company with her husband, Wade. "We have a lot of readers in Boone and Holt counties who support these news sites." The ACN launched Jan. 1, 2014, with the Knox County News beginning last summer. Last month, Pitzer Digital began a news sharing partnership with Norfolk radio stations US92 and 94Rock in an effort to expand coverage. "Both readers and advertisers have embraced our news sites since Day 1, and we're continuously working to improve our coverage and expand based upon their requests and needs," Pitzer said. "We are a work in progress and will continue to improve to better serve our readers and advertisers as technology continues to develop and change." Like the other websites, Boone and Holt will be entirely advertiser supported, allowing the sites to embody old-fashioned journalism presented in a progressive, digitally-based manner. Pitzer said news is free for readers because of businesses wanting to advertise where so many readers are looking. It's also important for the businesses to support promotion of community events, which is made easy through these websites. "Our number of unique visitors on these sites is mind blowing. I'm someone who has high expectations with projects, and even I have been surprised by the response," Pitzer said. "It's clear from the ACN and KCN that we have a lot of support in surrounding counties, and this expansion will help promote Boone and Holt county news and events." Pitzer said current writers on staff are developing content for the new sites, but she is accepting applications for part-time reporters who live in Boone and Holt county. "We plan to hire staff from those counties to assist with content, from stories to photos and video, depending on their comfort level and abilities," Pitzer said. "This is a great opportunity for individuals looking for employment, as well as for those communities who want more publicity." Applicants should send resumes and cover letters to [email protected]. |
