Those who organized the Mandy Ofe Benefit on Sunday night were overwhelmed by the outpouring support from the area communities. "There was an awesome turnout and an awesome display of how many were touched by Mandy's life," said Anna Crabtree, manager of Farmer's Pride in Neligh. She said about 625 people were served at the spaghetti feed benefit and more than $17,000 has been raised so far. Donations may still be sent to: Farmer's Pride Attn: Anna Crabtree P.O. Box 48 Neligh, NE 68756 (Please make checks payable to: Mandy Ofe Benefit) The benefit, sponsored by Farmers Pride and Ofe's family and friends, was announced Christmas Eve as a way to assist with medical expenses. There was a free-will spaghetti feed, dessert bar and silent auction. "We had good weather and wonderful people pitching in to make it all work," Crabtree said. "I don't know if I've ever seen the Neligh Legion Hall that full. Every time I looked up, there was another sea of people coming in." Ofe, 36, of Neligh, succumbed to cancer last week, and her funeral was held on Saturday. Ofe, a 1996 graduate of Elgin Public School, is survived by her two sons, Alex and Julian.
