Awareness Week: Are You Prepared For Severe Weather?

Spring has officially arrived, and severe weather is right around the corner. But are you prepared?

​March 21-25 marks Nebraska Severe Weather Awareness Week and communities across the state are encouraged to help residents prepare for upcoming weather situations. 

There will be a statewide tornado drill Wednesday March 25, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Expect to hear tornado sirens blown as a test. 

Now is the time for government, businesses and your family to develop and practice plans in case of severe weather event.

The National Weather Service has three reminders:
1. Know your risk: Severe weather can be deadly for those who are unprepared.
2. Take action: Be ready, have a tornado plan. Know what to do if lightning becomes a hazard or if flooding is threatening.
3. Be a force of nature: Look for ways to help in your community to make sure everyone is prepared.
