Assistant Director Attends Marquis Economic Development Event

​Neligh’s economic development is getting a boost in strategies to attract talent thanks to landing a highly competitive scholarship.

Assistant Economic Development Director Lauren Sheridan-Simonsen spent Sunday through Tuesday of last week in Chicago at the Mid-America Economic Development Council’s Competitiveness Conference.

The conference is considered the marquis event for the organization. It provides tips, strategies and ideas to help Midwest communities improve their competitive position to land corporate investment and attract talent while also gaining first-hand perspective of top site consultants in the region.  

Sheridan-Simonsen received the Bob Ady scholarship, which covered conference and travel expenses. The scholarship program is named in memory of Ady, who was a champion for economic development in the U.S. and especially in the Midwest. The purpose of the scholarship program is to assist new economic development professionals in furthering their professional development.

Applicants were evaluated based on their interest in economic development overall, as well as their interest in the Mid-America organization.
