Antelope County Board Gives Sullivan Vote Of 'No Confidence'

Sen. Kate Sullivan was given a vote of “no confidence” from the Antelope County Supervisors on Tuesday morning in response to her stance on the death penalty.

The Supervisors gave the vote to Sullivan, who represents Antelope County in the state legislature, due to her vote last month to repeal the death penalty, a repeal that even after a veto from Governor Ricketts, did go through.

The motion was made by Ed Schindler and approved unanimously by the rest of the supervisors. Pierce County gave a similar vote of no confidence to Sullivan. 

The vote is considered a public statement. Supervisors did not write an official letter to the senator.

“The sad part is that if someone commits a heinous crime, they’re just going to sit in a cell their whole life at our expense,” Antelope County Sheriff Bob Moore said. “There is a place for capital punishment. To abolish it all together is a shame."
