ACN Hosts BBQ, Golf To Raisey Money For Local Schools

The rain didn't scare away the golfers for the Antelope County News' inaugural Booster BBQ, Bash and Glow Ball Tournament on Thursday night.

Eighteen teams signed up for the Glow Ball Tournament that was held after daylight hours at the Antelope Country Club. There was a BBQ, family games and a silent auction that took place before the sun went down.

The event was sponsored by The Lawn Boy, Carhart Lumber, Blackburn Manufacturing, Willbur Ellis, Bank of Orchard and Great Plains Communications.

Of the competing teams, Nate Metschke, Landon Bloedorn, Frank Grade and Darin Hahne made up the winning team and shot a 29. Scott Kester's team finished second with a 31, and Greg Henn's team placed third with a 32. Brian Koch's team also shot a 32 but lost the tie-breaker, which was hole No. 2.

The funds raised will be divided between the athletic programs for the four schools. Receiving funds for assisting with the event were Dr. Dish (Clearwater-Orchard), Elkhorn Valley Boosters, Neligh-Oakdale Boosters and Elgin Public/Pope John Volleyball. 

The top three teams and flag prize winners can stop at the Antelope County News to pick up their checks and/or prizes. Winners reserve the right to keep the prize or donate it to the school of their choice.
