![]() Training will be offered in Neligh for citizens who want to apply for a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Duff Jensen, owner and founder of Freedom Concealed Carry, will hold a concealed carry class on Saturday, July 12. Beginning at 8 a.m., the class will be held in the basement meeting room of the Antelope County Courthouse. The cost is $125. The one-day class will consist of classroom time as well as range time, and is expected to take approximately 7 hours, depending upon the number of participants. To register or learn more, go to Jensen's website at www.freedomconcealedcarry.com; contact him by phone at 402-274-8883 or 8881 or email at [email protected]. Registrations will be accepted until the day of the class. "Let us know if you are interested in a future class in this area if July 12 does not work for you," he said. "We would consider future classes in this area as long as there is a need. We do give group discounts." Jensen has been in law enforcement for 23 years, a range instructor for approximately 5 years and a defensive tactics instructor for 22 years. When starting out in law enforcement, he was stationed in Plainview and mostly worked Pierce, Antelope and Knox counties. "My goal in these classes is to provide quality instruction as well as providing the materials students need to receive their concealed carry permit," he said. "I am a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment. I tell my classes that even though we have a right to keep and bear arms, carrying a concealed weapon is a privilege, not a right. It is our duty to learn and practice, and a good quality class is necessary in making sure a permit holder is prepared if the need arises to protect themselves or others. I always spend time with the students who want or need extra shooting instruction because this may be the only time I have to teach them proper technique and gun safety." |
