With 4-6 inches of snow anticipated over the weekend, the City of Neligh is warning residents that a snow emergency is possible. After 3 inches of new snow, a snow emergency may be declared in Neligh and effective until street cleaning is complete. All vehicles should be moved off of the street by 10 p.m. for street plows. A winter weather advisory is in effect from midnight Friday to midnight Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley. Light snow is expected to move into the area after midnight and continue through the day Saturday. The primary period of accumulating snow will be Saturday morning. According to City of Neligh Clerk Dana Klabenes, sidewalk snow may be placed on the city right of way. Snow from private property should not be pushed into the street or alley or placed upon any city right of way. All sidewalks should be cleaned within 5 hours after a storm ceases, unless the storm or snow falls during the night, which the sidewalk should be cleaned before 10 a.m. Residential sidewalks should be cleaned within 24 hours after cessation of storm.
