Lady Cyclones Defeated In Straight Sets At Creighton

The Clearwater-Orchard volleyball team lost in straight sets at Creighton on Tuesday night.

The 4-1 Lady Bulldogs defeated O-C, 25-17, 25-20 and 25-20.

"Creighton is a very good ball club," Coach Shelly Mlnarik said. "They had some great servers that had our serve receive scrambling to get the ball to the setter. The Cyclones have spurts of greatness. We need to work on being mentally tough and overcoming mistakes. I thought our back row played very scrappy and did pick up a lot of hard hit balls."

Senior Briana Stelling led the Lady Cyclones' attack with 9 kills, and, defensively, junior Mallory Cooper led the team with 12 digs. 

Clearwater-Orchard (2-4) will travel to Stuart on Saturday for a 4-team JV and Varsity tournament. The other teams are Stuart, St. Mary's and North Central. The first game, between North Central JV and St. Mary's JV, is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., and games will be played consecutively. The O-C JV will take on North Central in the second game and St. Mary's in the third. The Varsity will play Stuart in game 4. The team's next game will be determined by the outcome of the Stuart match, game 6 for a loss or game 7 for a win.
